STONE MATERIALS GUIDE · CHERRY HILL, NJ

Understanding YourShowroom.

Not all countertop materials are created equal. Our 30-year expertise helps you find the perfect stone for your lifestyle, design vision, and budget.

OUR MATERIALS

Four Stones. Endless Possibilities.

Every stone we carry has a distinct personality, strength profile, and maintenance requirement. Understanding the differences helps you invest wisely and love your countertops for decades to come.

Granite

The Workhorse.

Formed deep in the Earth from slowly cooling molten rock, granite is an igneous stone of interlocked feldspar and quartz crystals. Its crystalline structure makes it exceptionally hard, heat-resistant, and nearly impossible to scratch under normal kitchen use.

Heat Resistant

Place hot pots directly on the surface without worry.

Acid Resistant

Resists staining from coffee, wine, and citrus far better than marble.

150+ Colors

One of the largest granite selections in South Jersey.

Seal Annually

A simple yearly sealing keeps granite protected and beautiful.

BEST FOR: BUSY KITCHENS, HEAVY-USE SURFACES, OUTDOOR APPLICATIONS

Marble

The Statement Piece.

Born from ancient coral reefs transformed by millennia of heat and pressure, marble’s legendary veining and luminous depth give spaces a character no engineered material can replicate. Its timeless elegance has adorned palaces for thousands of years.

Unmatched Beauty

Unique veining. No two slabs identical, ever.

Cool Surface

Stays naturally cool, ideal for baking and pastry work.

Timeless Legacy

Used in palaces and monuments for thousands of years.

More Maintenance

Requires sealing every 6–12 months and careful acid management.

BEST FOR: BATHROOMS, LOW-TRAFFIC ISLAND SURFACES, STATEMENT FLOORS

Quartz

The Practical Luxury.

Engineered from 90% ground natural quartz crystal and 10% resins and pigments, quartz is the only option here that is truly non-porous by design. No sealing, ever. Available in consistent color runs that natural stone cannot provide.

Never Needs Sealing

Non-porous surface. Zero ongoing sealing required.

Stain Resistant

Resists wine, coffee, and oils without penetrating the surface.

Consistent Pattern

Each slab matches the next for large installations.

Not Heat Tolerant

Always use trivets, extreme heat can damage quartz.

BEST FOR: BUSY FAMILY KITCHENS, HIGH-TRAFFIC BATHROOMS, LOW-MAINTENANCE LIFESTYLES

Quartzite

The Best of Both.

A metamorphic rock formed when quartz-rich sandstone is subjected to extreme heat and pressure, quartzite delivers the visual drama of marble with the hardness of granite, and it will not etch from acid contact the way marble does.

Harder Than Granite

Can scratch glass, the ultimate durability test.

Marble Aesthetics

Beautiful veining without marble's acid sensitivity.

Heat Resistant

Withstands heat far better than engineered quartz.

Seal Regularly

Seal every 1–2 years for best long-term protection.

BEST FOR: HOMEOWNERS WHO LOVE MARBLE’S LOOK BUT NEED GRANITE’S DURABILITY

OUR RECOMMENDATION

Granite in the Kitchen.
Marble in the Bath.

After 30 years in the business, our honest recommendation: granite is the workhorse of the kitchen; heat-resistant, acid-resistant, and virtually indestructible. Marble rules the bathroom and the floor, where acid contact is rare and its legendary beauty can truly shine. Quartzite and quartz are excellent alternatives depending on your maintenance preference.
